OXL

The evolution of data storage and file exchange in the lighting industry

The OXL file was developed by OxyTech using modern XML (Mark-up Language) file technology, now widely used in many sectors, to contain all the technical and commercial information characterizing a luminaire.

It is useful for:

  • saving performance data (photometry, spectrometry) and technical and commercial information about a luminaire in a single file, preventing them from being saved in different file types (photometry in LDT files, spectra in XLSX files, images in JPG files, data sheets in PDF format, etc.)
  • exchanging product data in the lighting industry

It can therefore be used both in the laboratory to save product performance data and in the commercial sector as a 360° data exchange file when technical data is added to the performance one.

It represents the evolution of the Eulumdat (LDT), IES, Cibse TM14, Scandinavian LTLI and CIE 102 type files, generally limited to photometric data only.

One file including all data regarding a luminaire

The great innovation of the OXL file is the possibility to manage plenty of data regarding luminaires, even of different types and structures, such as:

  • photometric data
  • spectrum data and color parameters
  • laboratory data such as the list of instruments used, the norms of reference and the uncertainties
  • laboratory electrical parameter regarding luminaires including the LED drivers source currents
  • technical data sheets data
  • images in different formats
  • 3D files
  • energy label
  • accessory documents such as:
    • product certifications in PDF
    • instruction leaflets in PDF
    • Excel® charts
    • product launch videos
    • etc.

Speed, simplicity …

All this within a single file, thus ensuring:

  • speed and simplicity
  • flexibility, efficiency and practicality
  • order in document management

This is the first example of an XML file being applied to the lighting engineering sector and it can be used within LITESTAR 4D or by any other application able to read the Xml/ OXL file.

Try it now!

  • Download LITESTAR 4D from the Download section and install it
  • Download the  OXL sample file (click here), drag it and drop it in one of the following LITESTAR 4D modules:
    • Photoview, the photo-colorimetric data management module
    • Litecalc, the lighting design module
    • Liswin, the interactive electronic catalog, after having created a customized folder/catalog inside Liswin

Nothing will be like before!

How to view photometrics and spectra?

Con Photoview Open (Free) or Pro and a complete OXL file with photometrics and spectra, you can view all photo-spectrometric graphs and charts.

But that's not all: by importing an OXL file into Liswin, you can add datasheets, images, PDF files, etc., which can then be exported to a new complete OXL.
